National American Legion Spotlights Our Website

The American Legion National Headquarters is featuring our own website in their “A Moment in Time” article and as part of the

American Legion, 1919 – 2019, “Centennial Celebration.”

The two National American Legion web pages featuring us can be viewed at: and .

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has recently required all American Legion Posts to have on file a copy of each member’s DD-214. Even though we verify all new member’s DD-214 at the time they join, from now on the IRS wants verifiable proof on file in each Post. We ask all members, at your earliest convenience, to provide the Post Adjutant a copy of your DD-214. The copy will be kept secured at the Post. You can bring it in or mail the copy to:

Post 159’s NEW Point-Of-Sale System

In order to simplify, increase efficiency, and expand our accounting, taxing and inventory control, in our bars, restaurants, and merchandise sales, Post 159 has implemented a new Point-Of-Sale computerized sales system. In addition, and for the first time, the system also makes it possible for us to accept credit card sales for purchases of $15 or more. As a result, a tab can now be run at the bar, and our wait staff can add beverages to a meal tab making ordering drinks with a meal much easier.

The credit cards we now accept are VISA, MasterCard, and Discover Card.

POST 159 Color Guard Leads Sun Fiesta Parade

Once again, NO-VEL Post 159 was unit #1 at the annual Sun Fiesta Parade. Marching this year were, from left to right, Bob, Wil, Cliff and Wayne. New this year was Norm, Guard Commander, marching behind the unit with his snare drum keeping the Guard in step. NO-VEL Post 159 entered a float and, as usual, the Riders made a great showing.

Continuing a tradition, NO-VEL Post 159 donated and personally delivered Webster’s Dictionaries to the fourth grade students at five Venice area grade schools.
